The Sorcerer

Matt Cook Done in the style of good old 80's B-series horror movie soundtracks. You can feel that it comes from the bottom of the heart, just the way I like it. Lovely. Favorite track: The House Looms in the Evening Haze.
Europaweite Aussichten
Europaweite Aussichten thumbnail
Europaweite Aussichten On THE SORCERER Astral Stereo further explores his 70s Grindhouse/Exploitation film influences as he did on his equally fantastic record DISCO DEATH SLEAZE in 2014.
What's striking about THE SORCERER as well is the authenticity of the album's production. The whole album sounds like someone ripped the soundtrack off an old film reel. Something like The Mephisto Waltz (1971), The Devil's Rain (1975) or The Sentinel (1977).
And how fcking great is "In the Games Room We Dance"!!! Favorite track: In the Games Room We Dance.

about

The year is 1934.

An invite goes out to members of high society to witness the extraordinary, deep in the English countryside.

The estate belongs to Sir Arthur Ravenstone, a former music hall star and only the most influential elite can afford the show.

But the price to encounter such delights is much higher than they think. Their souls.

--------

I started this album almost exactly a year ago during a period of isolation. I would literally do nothing but watch movies and then work through the night with all the lights off and try and scare myself.

Sounds silly, but I really liked the immersion into the idea and the thin story I had. I had visions of an old country estate, a lavish dinner party followed by a show from the host, where there is wonder and amazement, followed by sheer horror and terror.

An empty room at the end, with old fashioned music playing in that kind of creepy Shining way..

I hope you like it and if you get an invite through to post from Sir Ravenstone, I wouldn't accept if I were you...
